Candidate Abdirahman Abdishakur’s Eid Message to the Somali People Somalia 2012.
Presidential Candidate Mr Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame is glad to share happy Eid al-fitri festival with all Somalis around the world. “This is a celebrated day in the entire Muslim population and Somalis in particular. A day which brings happiness, joy and celebrations.” said the Candidate. Mr Abdirahman termed the today’s Eid celebration as incomplete one as more than a million Somalis are IDPs in Mogadishu and double that figure as refugees in different parts of the world.
“More of these people (IDPs and Refugees) are not happy. What can make them happy is a functioning and trusted government that brings back the reputation and dignity of Somali people. That is the day we will celebrate happy Eid wholesomely.” added the Candidate. Bolstering our social capital can enable us bring back a function government which will allow us to jointly celebrate happy Eid as before, our children playing in the streets with their toys and the Eid congratulations passed to each other. “We must establish a state that covers our shames and that cannot come unless we define and agree our common interest, identify our dangers together and that is when we can share joy and sorrow.” concluded the Candidate.
